Description
Banari, listed among the Authentic Villages of Italy, boasts a charming historic center with houses and buildings made of red trachyte, dominated by the bell tower of the San Lorenzo Martire parish church.
Its vibrant cultural life and welcoming atmosphere make it a pleasant place to stay in one of the various B&Bs, surrounded by stately homes and old-style architecture, including the Museo d’Arte Fondazione Logudoro, which promotes national exhibitions and events.
On the outskirts of the village, you’ll find the ancient washhouse called Funtana de Josso. Continuing through the valley, you’ll reach the rural Romanesque church of Santa Maria di Cea, surrounded by the remains of a medieval monastery. Evidence of ancient human settlement includes the domus de janas known as Sos sette coroneddos.
The natural environment is enhanced by a forestry station and the Badde Manna wildlife protection oasis.
Banari is also famous for its fireworks display, which attracts thousands of visitors every year during the magical night of San Lorenzo.
