Description

From the fertile valley of the Tirso river to the highest peak of Monte Rasu, rising to 1,256 meters at Sa Punta Manna, the territory of Bono holds an extraordinary forest heritage and attracts a large number of visitors.

The urban area extends around a historic center dotted with elegant manor houses. A standout is the San Michele parish church, with a beautiful Gothic rose window on its pink trachyte façade.

A monument honors Giovanni Maria Angioy, the revolutionary from Bono who led the Sardinian anti-feudal uprisings in the late 18th century.

The local economy, strongly rooted in agro-pastoral traditions, is enriched by thriving craftsmanship. Skilled hands produce high-quality woven goods and fine iron and woodwork.

Gastronomic excellence includes traditional bread and wines like the local “Arvesinadu”.

But Bono’s true treasures are found in its mountains, home to Italy’s largest yew forest, Sos Nibberos. Hiking trails lead through the varied woodlands of the Monte Pisanu natural oasis, where visitors can enjoy the adventure park in complete safety. Also worth visiting are the xylotheque, showcasing Sardinian tree and shrub species, and a photo exhibition about the history of forestry in the Goceano region.
