Description
In the heart of the village, which locals affectionately call Su Burgu (the borough), the Sant’Antonio Abate parish church rises among a blend of historic and modern buildings, panoramic squares, and cobblestone alleys.
Towering on a rocky spur above the fertile Tirso valley, the Castello del Goceano dominates the landscape, often veiled in clouds. Its serene, silent setting evokes a meditative atmosphere and recalls times when this fortress was a meeting place for knights and ladies and the scene of epic sieges.
The Foresta Burgos oasis is a pristine example of Sardinia’s mountainous woodlands, with holm oaks, yews, and downy oaks sheltering abundant wildlife. In this enchanting land—once walked by prehistoric peoples—stands a modern equestrian center, a legacy of the Royal Italian Army’s historic riding school. The facility specializes in Anglo-Arab-Sardinian horses.
Also worth a visit is the rural church of San Salvatore.
A thriving agritourism sector complements historical reenactments, such as the celebrated event “Prendas de Adelasia”, which revives ancient traditions and local gastronomic excellence.
In the heart of the historic center, you'll also find the Museum of the Castles of Sardinia.
