Padria

A journey through time, where history, archaeology, and nature intertwine.

Description

The village of Padria rises on the ruins of ancient Gurulis Vetus, founded in Punic times and thriving during the Roman era.

From that period remain the three-arched Roman bridges that once connected roadways along the Temo River.

Just outside the village, in addition to the Phoenician-Punic city walls, archaeological discoveries have uncovered Neolithic settlements, and the surrounding area is dotted with nuraghi.

Artifacts from every era are preserved in the Civic Archaeological Museum, located in the former Monte Granatico building.

Visitors can immerse themselves in the colors and scents of the countryside along trails designed for trekking and mountain biking. Not to be missed are the waterfalls along the course of the Su ’Entale river.

Three hills watch over the town like guardian saints—San Pietro, San Paolo, and San Giuseppe.

In the historic center, stately homes with Catalan influences give way to the striking Santa Giulia Martire parish church, dating to the 16th century—an unrivaled example of Gothic-Aragonese architecture in Sardinia.
