Description
When you say Pattada, you say resolza—the famous folding knife handcrafted here and known worldwide thanks to the skill and artistry of local makers.
This is the highest village in the province of Sassari, and the pine forest just above the town is perfect for hiking and nature walks. At the heart of the historic center stands the Santa Sabina parish church, built in Catalan Gothic style.
There’s even an International Knife Museum dedicated to the coltelleria tradition. But local craftsmanship also shines in woodworking, furniture, window frames, and the fine art of violin making.
On the culinary side, Pattada is known for its excellent sheep and cow milk cheeses.
The love for Sardinian poetry runs deep here. Padre Luca Cubeddu and Giovanni Maria Asara are legendary figures in the world of verse, as is Pietro Pisurzi from the hamlet of Bantine.
The Pattada Lake, located at the foot of Monte Lerno—the highest peak in the area at nearly 1,100 meters—is surrounded by numerous natural springs with high-quality water. The area is also rich in archaeological sites, ranging from the Nuragic period to the Middle Ages, including the Sos Nurattolos complex and the ruins of the Olomene castle.
