Description

Just off highway 131, in the fertile Costa de Addes valley, lies Semestene—one of the smallest villages in both the Meilogu region and all of Sardinia. A true architectural gem, it offers visitors a journey back in time.

The village unfolds around the San Giorgio parish church, just steps from the town hall and colorful murals that brighten the charming atmosphere. Walking through the historic alleys, one can spot Spanish-style decorative reliefs, while in Piazza IV Novembre, the only remnants of the former Santa Croce church are its graceful Gothic-Catalan portals.

Despite its small size, Semestene doesn’t lack in modern amenities: just outside the village there’s a multi-purpose center with a swimming pool and an open-air theater.

On the slope toward the Campeda plateau, the Iscolca Nuraghe rises majestically, framed by a spectacular natural setting. Along the valley runs a stream bordering the medieval settlement of Trullas, where the beautifully preserved Romanesque church of San Nicola still stands, with its rare original frescoes.
