Description

Villanova Monteleone is like a miniature Sardinia, where sea and mountains meet and complement each other, offering a wide and diverse range of tourist experiences. From the beach of Poglina to the natural oasis of Monte Minerva, and along the springs of the Temo River, visitors can immerse themselves in unspoiled nature, enriched by archaeological sites such as the domus de janas of Potu Codinu, the nuraghe Appiu, and the giants’ tomb of Laccaneddu.

Skilled hands keep alive the village’s textile tradition, producing tapestries and handwoven carpets, while the Cooperativa Allevatori produces high-quality cheeses. The warm hospitality of the community enhances the charm of its artisanal and culinary culture, inviting visitors to stay in the many B&Bs scattered throughout the picturesque historic center.

Highlights include the 16th-century parish church of San Leonardo da Limoges, the scenic staircase of Su Cantaru, the many murals, the distinctive building known as Su Palatu, now a cultural center, and Sa Domo Manna, which houses the ethnographic museum, including a section dedicated to the poet Remundu Piras.

Here, the love for horseback riding runs deep. Villanova is home to one of the most important equestrian centers for breeding Anglo-Arab Sardinian horses, and its extensive network of horseback trails makes it the perfect place for hiking and riding excursions.
