Description
The Castrum San Giorgio di Aneletto is a site dating back to the medieval period.
This fortified castle, which dominated the valley below, was an important defensive structure.
The castrum, probably built around the 13th century, was a strategic point in the history of Sardinia, both for its location and for its role in the struggles among the various local factions.
The complex consists of a wall with four quadrangular towers at the corners, on one of which the remains of a church dating back to before 1163 rise; in the complex, quadrangular residential structures, a staircase leading above the wall, tombs, a pavement, and a circular structure with a likely burial function were found.
