Description
The Church of San Giovanni in Thiesi has its first records as a place of Christian worship dating back to the 17th century.
However, the study of the building suggests that the original structure might date back to an earlier period, with a layout that could include the two front spans, probably covered by a wooden structure.
The hypothesis of a pre-existence is supported by the Gothic pointed arch on the facade and by the holy water font walled under a window.
A side door, dating back to the Seventeenth century, features a lintel decorated with an inflected arch, a trefoil cross and a circle with a hen figure.
The Sanctuary has a hall plan with a single nave and apse, a bell gable, and a barrel vault.
