Description
The church, dedicated to the Protomartyr, has ancient origins dating back to the XI century, as evidenced by a document from 1113 in which Costantino I of Torres gifted the church to the Camaldolese monks.
Initially of modest size, it was enlarged by the rector Gavino Manunta, who built the presbytery and the chapel of the Holy Martyrs Gavino, Proto and Gianuario, reserving the right of burial for himself.
In 1732, the Solinas family built the chapel of Sant'Antonio.
Other chapels were built thanks to parish funds and donations.
