Description

To the north of the village, on a hill near the Badde Mudascu valley, is the rocky sanctuary dedicated to San Lussorio.

Originally from Carales, Lussorio, initially a pagan, converted to Christianity and was baptized. Denounced to praeses Delfius, he was invited to renounce his new faith, but refused. Arrested, he met and converted Cesello and Camerino, who were also martyred with him. His remains were laid in a cemetery area outside Forum Traiani (today Fordongianus), where there is a semi-hypogean place of worship where, according to tradition, the martyr was beheaded. It is believed that San Lussorio lived a hermitage period at this sanctuary.

Today, the site, modified in successive epochs, is accessible via a porch with five arches, dating back to the XVII century. Inside, the natural cavity is adapted to worship with an irregular barrel vault.

The pulpit is located on the left wall, while at the back stands the presbytery with four statues depicting San Lussorio and his companions, as well as a statue of San Lussorio in episcopal robes.

An opening on the side leads to a room at the back with two niches, probably used as an apse.
