Tancas Abertas

The current worship building, located at the foot of the hill of San Paolo, appears to be the result of various construction phases.

Initially, it was a private chapel of the De Ferrera, with a square plan, located near their Palace.

Subsequently, a nave and a lodge overlooking the courtyard were added, which for a long time served as a cemetery area belonging to the church.

The renovation and expansion works of the Santa Croce church are part of a broader redevelopment project promoted by the De Ferrera, which involved both the urban layout and the worship buildings of the villa in Padria.

As with the church of Santa Giulia, the facade of Santa Croce also features an engraving with the date 1543, which recalls this important intervention.

The building is dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel and houses the Confraternity of Santa Croce.
