Description

The church of Santa Croce, erected in the XVI century in late Gothic style, has subsequently undergone renovations.

Its facade, simple and gabled, features a portal carved in sandstone, with side columns fitted with capitals decorated with plant and geometric motifs.

The portal is topped by a tympanum, also decorated with leaf motifs in relief. At the top of the facade, there is a circular oculus.

On the side view to the left, a sandstone plate with an inscription and the date 1557 is visible, which probably refers to the construction of the church, forming the lintel of a side door now concealed.

The church was probably built at the initiative of the Santa Croce Brotherhood, already operational in earlier times.

Today, the church hosts some of the solemn functions of the Holy Week.
