Description
The church of Santa Maria degli Angeli, located in the southern part of Padria and also known as the church of Sant’Antonio, is part of a complex that includes a former convent of the Franciscan Friars.
The construction of the convent dates back to the 17th century, initiated by Isabella, the wife of Count Gerolamo Cervellon of Sedilo, and was built on lands granted by her.
The convent seems to have been built around a pre-existing church dedicated to the Virgin of Itria.
The church has a longitudinal floor plan with niches and a quadrangular presbytery, and a series of wooden or marble altars.
The presbytery is elevated and decorated with a valuable marble altar.
The facade is characterized by corner pilasters and horizontal frames, with a limestone entrance portal and a coat of arms of the Franciscan Friars.
