A Romanesque church immersed in the Sardinian nature between history, art, and spirituality.
Description
The Church of Santa Maria di Mesumundu is located just outside the center of Anela, along the road to Bultei, immersed in a landscape of extraordinary panoramic beauty.
Built in 1162 in Romanesque style by Cistercian monks, the church underwent a major restoration in 1977, which helped to preserve its original structure.
The interior houses valuable historical elements, including a stone baptismal font and two wooden statues from the sixteenth century, which testify to the sacred art of the period.
Another object of great historical value is the bronze bell, dating back to 1237, which represents one of the oldest and most significant elements of the church.
