Description
Dedicated to Maria Carta, an extraordinary musicologist, poet, actress, and interpreter of Sardinian folk music, who has given a voice to her land in the world.
The exhibition, spread over two levels of 90 sqm each, tells her life and career through photos, stage costumes, memorabilia, and footage.
The first section retraces her biography, from birth in Siligo (1934) to her passing in Rome (1994).
The next section is on her musical career: an exceptional contralto, she studies the folk music of Logudoro, Barbagia, Gallura, and Campidano, enriching the repertoire with innovative adaptations.
The third section explores her poetic work, with manuscripts and a video.
Her theatrical and film work is then covered, up to her political engagement in the PCI.
The journey is enriched by awards, photos, press reviews, footage, and music, providing a deep insight into an artist who transformed Sardinian culture.
