Description
The Necropolis of Sant'Andrea Priu, located near Bonorva, is an archaeological site of great historical and cultural value. Dating back to the prenuragic and nuragic era, the necropolis houses about 20 tombs dug into the rock, arranged on a plateau and mostly at a certain height from the field level.
Among the most significant tombs are the "Tomb of the Chief", the "Circular Hut Tomb" and the "Chamber Tomb".
The Tomb of the Chief is particularly fascinating for its complex structure, consisting of 18 compartments, and for the sculpted architectural details, such as pairs of pilasters and tapering columns. The dome of this tomb represents the ceiling of a hut with a semicircular atrium, supported by side beams and a ridge beam, with traces of red paint.
The "Circular Hut Tomb", on the other hand, stands out for the main cell with a circular plan, with small side cells and the representation of a conical ceiling made with logs and branches, similar to ancient pinnettas.
The "Chamber Tomb" is another impressive example of ancient funerary architecture.
