Description
The Longu nuraghe, located in a dominant position near Padria, is one of the best examples of preserved and complex nuraghes in the region.
Built with basaltic stone arranged in regular rows and well-worked courses, the structure is composed of a main tower and two side towers, laid out according to a frontal addition scheme.
The entrance, oriented towards E-NE, leads to a barrel-vaulted corridor, 4 meters long and 2.30-2.40 meters high. The circular room, with a diameter of 4.30 meters, is cluttered with rubble but still maintains its intact tholos covering, 7 meters high.
A staircase of 22 steps provides access to a second chamber on the upper floor, which is now devoid of its roof.
The later-built towers are connected to the main tower by a retaining wall, with an irregular courtyard between the two bodies.
The area to the south and southeast hosts a settlement of round huts.
