Description
The Pibirra nuraghe, whose name derives from the term "pibiri" meaning pepper, stands on a strategic height overlooking the Temo valley and the road to Bosa.
Excavations carried out in the early 2000s have brought to light the structure, built in limestone. The main body consists of a central tower approximately 7 meters high and at least two other towers connected by straight walls.
The entrance, facing southwest, leads to a chamber with a perfectly preserved tholos vault and three niches arranged in a cross. The spiral staircase leading to the upper floors is still visible.
An outer wall with towers connected by curved and straight walls surrounds the main body. In the vicinity, a vast settlement with circular buildings attests to the strategic importance of the complex, in connection with the nearby nuraghe Suezzones.
