Description
The Nuraghe Ruju is one of the many nuraghes in the Valley of the Nuraghes.
It is a complex nuraghe, with a central tower flanked in the front by two lateral towers connected by walls.
Not yet stratigraphically excavated, it is dated between the Middle and Late Bronze Age (1600-1000 B.C.).
Built in trachyte, it still has the two floors of the central tower intact, now accessible through a staircase leading to the upper window.
Inside there are two niches and a corridor with access to the ramps leading to the terrace and the lower room, partially buried.
The courtyard in front, now collapsed and buried, shows remains of corridors that connected the towers and the exterior.
The right tower still retains part of the cell, while the central tower reaches a current height of 10.80 meters, possibly originally over 12.50 meters.
The site, little known compared to the nearby Santu Antine, is nestled in the green and crossed by the Riu Mannu.
