Tancas Abertas

Sa Pedra Mendalza, an imposing basalt monolith about one hundred meters high, stands in the suggestive volcanic landscape of Giave.

Formed as a result of the erosion of an ancient volcanic cone, it is shrouded in legends that tell of janas, the fairies of Sardinian tradition.

According to the stories, a secret passage would lead inside the rock, where three chests are said to be hidden.

In the surrounding area, geology intertwines with history: the territory hosts volcanic craters and the nuraghe Oes, witnesses of the Nuragic civilization.
