Description

The Sa Ucca de su Tintirriolu Cave, located in the Bonu Ighinu area, is one of the most spectacular in Meilogu.

With two entrances, connected to the overlying Pozzaccio Cave, it extends for about 1 km between tunnels, halls, and an underground stream.

Explored since 1969, it has revealed a stratigraphy documenting settlements from the Middle Neolithic (4900-4000 B.C.) to the Metal Age.

The findings, including decorated pottery, idols, and flint and obsidian tools, suggest a residential and cult function.

Plant remains indicate the cultivation of wheat, barley, and legumes.

Five steles at the entrance testified an ancient spirituality linked to the cave.
