Description
Less than three kilometers from Villanova Monteleone, in the direction of Bosa, there is a sanctuary dedicated to Madonna di Interrios, the name of which may refer to the medieval village of Interiola, documented in the XIV century.
The church, with alterations since the XVI century, has a longitudinal layout with a single nave, lateral chapels, and a polygonal presbytery.
The facade, altered in the XVIII century, retains the base and corner pilasters, with an entablature portal surmounted by a quadrangular small window.
The portico, built in the 1940s, has four full arches and a small bell gable. It welcomes the numerous pilgrims who visit the sanctuary, where valuable wooden statues, including a statue of Madonna di Interrios, now in the chapel of the parish church of San Leonardo, are kept.
The interior, with barrel vaults and sub-arches, is marked by pilasters and has a polychrome wooden altar in the presbytery.
