The "Sagra del Zichi" celebrates one of the oldest and most rooted culinary traditions of Bonorva.
The "Sagra del Zichi" pays homage to the "zichi", which is a traditional Sardinian bread, circular in shape, and similar to a flatbread that can come in two versions: a soft type and a harder one. While the former can be consumed as a side dish, the latter is most suitable for cooking.
The festival usually takes place at the end of summer or the beginning of fall through the streets of the historic center and it is possible to taste the zichi in various preparations, either in its simple form, accompanied by extra virgin olive oil and tomato, or used as a base for more elaborate dishes, such as soups and typical Sardinian dishes.
In addition to the tastings, the festival offers a series of side events that enrich the experience such as demonstrations on the preparation of zichi bread, workshops for visitors, performances of traditional Sardinian music, exhibitions by local folk groups, and exhibits on local crafts and culture.
