S’Ischiglia: the Pariglie of Bonorva
Description
SATURDAY, JULY 2
Starting from his residence, Su Asone, accompanied by a large group of knights and the members of S’Ischiglia with the banner and the horse of Asone covered by a drape in green and blue colors featuring a reproduction of the town's coat of arms, will arrive at the entrance of the town hall where the mayor, wearing the tricolor sash of representation along with a good portion of the municipal council, will be waiting for him.
Su Asone will greet the mayor to whom he will hand over the mantle of his horse and will ask to officially start the event. The mayor, after handing the command sword to Su Asone, who will attach it to the saddle of the horse, will entrust him with the responsibility for the success of the event, inviting him to start the initial parade and then the performances of the knights in the pairs.
Su Asone will then mount his horse and, directing a greeting to the Mayor and the council, will begin the opening parade of the event. It will start with the parade of various groups, the Drummers and Trumpeters of “La Sartiglia” from Oristano and knights.
Once the initial parade is over, the sound of trumpets and the roll of drums will signal the start of the gallop of the horse Joseph Faedda, flanked by the escorts Antonello Senes and Ignazio Ruggiu, followed by all the knights performing acrobatic feats. At the end, the closing parade will take place.
SUNDAY, JULY 3
On Sunday afternoon, the initial parade, the pairs, and the race at “S’Ischiglia” will take place, which has a significant meaning for the operators of the countryside and rewards the most skilled at spearing a model of the collar (the embroidered sash that adorns the horse's chest where the bell is present in various shapes and quantities) while riding a galloping horse. The day will end with the parade and the handing over of the command sword to the Mayor.
